It's the age old question. I'm hoping this will spark some discussion. Who is the perfect pair from the Legend of Zelda? It can be from any time period or game or whatever. So, let's see now . . . Obviously, Link and Zelda is the most common pair. Then Link and Malon, Link and Saria, and so forth. I've never really agreed with any of these, though, simply because they are used so often. I saw a story once based off of a Link and Ruto romance. Now that's the kind of pairing I like to see. Something fresh and new, not the same old same old that everyone uses. I guess if the author can really make the pair work well then I wouldn't mind a LZ pair as much. What are your thoughts, comments, etc.?

If you think about it, though, the Link and Zelda pairing would never work out. The bloodlines have always remained pure throughout the series, so although there might be some romance between them, they would have to find other someone else. As for me, I don't really care. I like Zelda, Malon, and Saria. (sorry, I can't see him with Ruto)

At this point I don't believe there is a 'perfect pairing' for Link. My preference is definitely Link and Zelda because it's just easier to create a plot line that works those two together. Well, for me it is at least. I like reading about all the other pairings though...if it's well-written. 'Course a LinkxZelda pairing would have to be well-written into the story too if that's the one used... ^.^

While my favorite pair would have to be Zelda and Link, I've always harbored a soft spot for Anju and Kafei from Majora's Mask. The game's side quest for the couple never satisfied me. I attempted writing a fanfic featuring the couple (especially since I could never find a GOOD Anju/Kafei fic no matter where I looked), but I lost interest in the story before I finished. Oh well, I suppose.

I like Link and Zelda together best too. Other stuff like Link and Malon is okay with me, but that's just my preference.

I've tried to get into the Link/Malon pairing, but it never stuck with me. I'm a Zelink fan all the way.

I think some of the better stories involve a Link and OC pairing. They tend to be a little more interesting to read, in my opinion anyway.

It's hard to find any good stories with a Link/OC pairing but if it's good, then I could definitely go for that. A lot of the ones I've read lately have Mary-Sue written all over 'em though.

A lot of people hate Mary-Sue but, if written correctly, I think it can be pretty good sometimes. It's rare but I have seen it a few times.

To be honest, I think the pairing for Link depends on how the writer views Link's personality. I mean, we're always controlling him in the game, and he never talks and barely reacts to situations around him. If someone sees him as the bold, adventurous type, they'll pair him up with someone appropriately. Likewise with maybe a more quiet, unsure disposistion. Malon, Zelda, and Ruto are a little bit easier to work with because we can see how they are, and it gets a little easier still when we create our own character for Link because we're in complete control of both characters personalites. It's kind of like having two OC's in a sense. That's just my view, though.

Interesting... I'd never thought of it that way before. Maybe that's also why Zelda fanfiction is so popular. Link is such a flexible character, and you can pair him with so many people. I don't think I'll ever seem him with Ruto, though...

Yeah, it does seem kind of farfetched, but I've seen people try...

Oh, me too. What I meant was that I just can't see the relationship working out... at least, in the way I picture Link. Ruto's just a little too forward. lol.

Again, that would depend on how you view Link. If you view him as the bold, adventuring type then they'd be a match just because they'd constantly be trying to outdo the other in some form or another. If you view him as the gentler type, he'd be the one trying to keep the high-maintenance princess happy. Sorry, but I just think it's the Zora part in her that would strange for me. Would you date a fish?

Lol. Dating fish would not be my gig. And I definitely view Link as the gentler type... thus my preference for the Zelda/Link pairing.
(BTW, totally off topic [sorry Tiki] but I like your new avatar, Nova).
