There were maps for the dungeons.

Maneuvering on the world map, I think, was most difficult. I got lost on a regular basis. I remember the first time I played NES Zelda, I kept trying to use my arrows (but I was constantly out of rupees during that game) and when it didn't work, I got so frustrated. It took me forever before I realized my wallet was depleting every time I shot off an arrow randomly... Got it eventually, though.

As a beginner it can seem pretty big, but after you play the game for long periods of time you're practically singing "It's A Small World After All" while you play. I didn't like how the World Map wasn't divided, but once I got into the general vicinity it was okay. And really, after getting the Blue Ring there wasn't any big need for rupees so having up to 255 arrows came in handy. Either way it didn't matter much to me because I never used the bow that much.

After I found out about the cost I never used the bow except when you have to shoot the Silver Arrow at Ganon to defeat him.

It didn't make much sense to use arrows when most of the time the sword was so much better. If you could shoot the beam, you were set. Only when you got the Silver Arrows were they worth anything, but you got them too late in the game to make any difference.

The Magic Boomerang and Master Sword were enough for me. I liked using the Red Candle to attack enemies too. I think I said that in a previous post, though.

After the Blue Ring, rupees were still a necessity for me because I required potions everywhere I went. I must have died 250 times before I beat that game. That old lady was running a monopoly in her little potion-making shop!

What I never understood was why they made you choose between a Red Potion or a Heart Piece. The choice was obvious. Heh, rupees were a problem for me at first. But then I found all of the secret 100 free rupee places and was able to have the Blue Ring before playing the second level. ;D

On the first quest I would always get the White Sword and Blue Ring before even going into the first level. It's so much fun making the boss fight into a one sided battle.
The red potion was only 68 rupees, so even with that money was never a major issue for me. The thing about buying stuff at shops is finding the best deal since prices are different at different shops.

Heh, I did that a few times. Yeah, shopping around was best to do in that game. Especially when you could avoid paying like 150 for the large shield.
