Topic should say what this thread is about. What's your favourite type of story to read? What's your favourite to write?
As far as a reading goes, number 1 would have to be original concepts based off of the Zelda characters. For writing, probably something dealing with Ocarina of Time only because I know so much about that game.
So what's yours?

Let's see...my favorite kind of stories to read are just anything with a well-developed, well-written, and interesting plot line. My favorite kind of story to write would definitely be stuff based on The Legend of Zelda, and it's gotta have action. Now action scenes are what I totally love to write. There's just so many awesome things one can make a character do in battle...and I find it to be super fun! ^.^

Yes, well-developed, well-planned, etc. stories are definitely worth it. I also like to read stories that have some sustenance, as in, they are long and keep the plot going. Action sequences are really fun to write. Speaking of which, I need to get to work on my story soon, I have a big action scene coming up.

I've always liked action and fiction types. I'm not much for horror, though I do like a book that has well written suspense in it. As far as writing goes, I've learned to really like the battle scenes. It's easier to make a character do something rather than think about what they're supposed to be saying. I have to fight to make the dialogue realistic.

I really enjoy stories that have major plot twists and keep you guessing until the end. I love those kinds of stories. You have to use your mind and try to figure it out. Kinda like a mystery story but it's not.

Well, if we're talking genres, I have to admit I'm a huge sap for romance. *sigh* I guess I'm kind of girlie, but I'm not ashamed of it. I also like action/adventure fics, suspense stories, mysteries, and some dramas. No matter what story I read, though, it has to have proper grammar and spelling. I cannot describe how aggravating it is when I come across a fic that looks interesting, and then I discover the whole fic is riddled with mechanical errors. I know fanfiction isn't the work of professional writers, but hot off the press, completely unrevised work tends to irritate me. (Sorry for the rant! ;D)

My favorite type of story to read would have to be action/adventure. I like humor, romance, and all that fun stuff too (excpet angst...too sad *sniff*; unless of course it's just sad and without any too disturbing emotions and thoughts...) But if it's not well-written then...bleck... Now my favorite to write is humor/parody. It's easier for me to write it when I'm in a happy mood, especially after lots of sugar and I can be as random/weird sounding as I want to. Plus, I seem to have more of a touch for humor over the other types, because it tends to come easier to me.

I guess I'd have to admit it too but I enjoy a bit of romance as well. Not the kind of lovey-dovely, gooy, blah blah blah. I'm talking about where there is some romance involved with the story and it helps push the plotline and stuff.

Same here. I'm a sadsap, but I prefer dramas and action. I write romance, though, but they frequently get separated (thats evident in LiTIaD) so there isn't much of it. Is that a bad thing? I've been chatting to a few of my reviewers online, and they're keen to see them get together once and for all. I keep promising that it'll happen, but there's too much to just stick 'em together right now. *head in hnds* I'm sooooo frustrated!

Genre wise, I would have to say I like fantasy, action, humor, and romance. I'm a pretty big fan of parodies, too.
But I like well-written stuff and the plot needs to be well-developed and not extremely confusing. Also, I think the characters need to be well-developed, too. I hate perfect characters that's my biggest pet peeve when it comes to writing.

I'm actually in favour of the main character or hero of the story being a 'dark character.' Not perfect, not really the 'good guy' either.

I like "dark" characters, too. I'm a sucker for the bad-boy type... In stories.

Same here. It makes it so much more interesting. The best ones are where they flit between good and evil and you can never tell if they'll do the right thing until the split second where it makes all the difference . ;D But sadly, I can never write those... (;_;)

Yeah, me neither. It's fun to read stories that keep the reader in suspense. The advantage to reading stories online instead of books is that you never can tell what will happen next. With a book you can either cheat and skip ahead, or know that there's so much book left that it can't possibly end at that point. In essence, the main character is almost always safe until near the end where there's the possibility of a cliffhanger.
