My English teacher in High School tried to get our class to read Great Expectations, but we didn't get too far into it. It was really, really boring. I think I still have it somewhere, and if I find it I might give it a read if I'm bored. I've read George Orwell's (I think that's the author) "Animal Farm" during my 8th grade year. It was okay, but it was a little weird, too.

Wait...if you started it and thought it was boring, what good will it do if you read it cuz you're bored? Animal Farm? Never heard of it... I still have to read A Separate Peace before we get back to school...I've been kinda puttin' that off...heh

Well, reading something boring by choice is better than having to read it as an assignment. It doesn't quite become so boring because you're making a conscious choice to read it. The trick is finishing it before you lose interest otherwise you have to start all over again.

I've actually read Great Expectations twice (big Dickens fan). The first time I read it was for my own pleasure. The second time I read it was for my ninth grade Honors English class. I found that it was much more enjoyable to read the first time than the second. Sometimes I think it helps if you read a book for yourself than for a grade.

Okay, sorry for the double post, but why on earth did my post say "thingyens" fan. I definitely meant the author of Great Expectations... (not the curse word).

Eh, that's something I've got to fix. In case you didn't notice my poem was a little messed up and I saw one of marshmallow's post that had a similar problem. I'll get to work and see what's what. And instead of double posting, next time simply modify your first post. EDIT: Problem fixed.

Anyone ever read Eragon? That was a good book and I think there might be a movie comin' out late this year for it. ^.^

I've seen on the shelves of book stores, and it looks interesting. What's it about?

Basically a boy who becomes a dragon rider with all kinds of hardships he has to face. It's hard to explain without giving too much away though, but it makes for a great read. ^.^

I need to stock up on reading material before I head back for college so maybe I'll give it a try. Aren't there four books to the series, or am I just seeing different covers?

Well there's two out that I know of-Eragon and Eldest. I haven't read Eldest yet so if there is any beyond that then I had no clue about them.

No, I think it was Eldest that I was thinking about. They have similar titles and I never took a real close look at them. I know one has a blue cover and another has a red cover. I could've sworn, though, that I saw a picture of books that a green cover and, I think, a black cover. I don't remember if those are along the same lines, though.

Hmmm...I think a 3rd one is coming out sometime. I just don't know exactly when, but oh well. I'm gonna start reading the Earthsea trilogy again, and this time hopefully I'll read all the way through it...heh... Blondie got some Halo books for her bday, so (if she'll let me) I'll probably read those after I'm done with Earthsea.
