I'm burned out on HP. I've only made it to the fourth book.
I like a series called Daughters of the Moon. It's really good and has a lot of Greek Mythology references in it, and it's cool how the author ties all of that in to her characters who are in present time.

Mirablick clutches chest, chokes, and passes out in disbelief.
I'm a huge HP fan, so it kills me when I hear people are indifferent to it. The sixth book was a little disappointing for me, because I think some of the "magic" is starting to wear off, but I'm still a major fan. As for the movies, I'll never be able to express in words my unparalleled disgust with the acting and the butchered stories.

Actually, I found the 4th movie to be A LOT better than the last three. I may watch the last three movies, but I'm not so sure. I'm kinda anticipating to see if the rumors of Harry dying in the last book are true.

I've never in my lifetime read the HP books, but have been lazy and gone to see the movies. :)Only if I truly run out of books that I'm interested in reading, then MAYBE I'll go read them...

...sigh... I guess I'm the lone HP fan then. I haven't read any of the books for a year now. I'm reading Candide right now... definitely an interesting book, in a really weird way. People are getting raped and killed left and right, but it's actually funny (in a dark way). It's a satire... I definitely wouldn't recommend it for kiddies, though.

That...sounds...great? Doesn't sound like a book I'd like...heh. I'm still reading the Earthsea trilogy but I'm on the final book and it's pretty good.

Well, of course you wouldn't like it, Marshmallow. Mira did say that it wasn't a book for kiddies. I have yet to start 'The Grape of Wrath' but probably will within the next few days.

I still haven't gotten around to finishing 'The Phantom of the Opera'

I actually didn't like the book quite as much as the movie. I thought the ending was drawn out and slow. It was still a satisfying read, though.

I loved the Daughters of the Moon stuff and then the Sons of the Dark too. Now Kyle is awesome in SotD! I think those two series are what helped set me on track to better my writing...which definitely needed improvement. I haven't read the Phantom of the Opera book in a LOOOOONG time so I can't offer up any opinion on it in comparison with the movie and like Marshmallow, I've never read a single Harry Potter book. I remember being a big fan of the T*Witches series...it was interesting for the age group I was in when I read it back in middle school...Of course Disney channel made a movie for it and butchered the story line which upset me since it was a favorite from my younger days. Though I guess I'm still young...lol.

Daughters of the Moon inspired me, too. There's still no word on if there's going to be a 13th book -_- and no word on a TV show or movie...

I've never heard of half the stuff you guys are talking about. I guess I'll have to broaden my horizons eventually.

Daughters of the Moon and Sons of the Dark are Young Adult books that we read when we were like 13, but they still give us a lot of ideas and such. It has Greek Mythology in it and that's probably why I like those two series.

I love mythology and stuff like that, I just don't get around to reading anything I don't know anything about.

I'm the same way. When I was younger, if I didn't like the cover on the book, then I wouldn't pick it up to see what it was about. Now, the DotM books have covers that can probably catch most peoples' attention.
