Well, I thought it might be interesting (and helpful) if people could post thier strong and weak points in thier writing, and they could help others with their weak points and just brag about thier strong points. Here's what I assume mine are: Strong Points: Plot Descriptions, I think Creativity Vocabulary Action scenes/battles Details (everything happens for a reason!) Ability to write without using the computer Weak Points: Dialogue Too wordy Characters Word choice Sentence structure Confusing way of going about things No real humour Inability to write short stories Lack of proofreading No real ability to give something a good title Too much time taken to actually write anything

Strengths: Supposedly I'm creative... I l-o-v-e to write! (does that count? lol) Umm... *cricket sound* I've been told I can write awesome action stuff... Weaknesses: Commas Definitely word choice Coming up with decent OCs Often I experience a lack of inspiration Missing mistakes when I proofread I tend to miss certain details to a story...but I think I'm gettin' better at that...with lots of help.

Poppycock, everyone misses things when proofreading so that shouldn't count and I think you can come up with some nice OCs. You are improving on the plot holes. Yes, a passion for writing is very important.

Hmm..
My Strengths.. Good description Balance of dialogue and action Fairly decent grammar Lots of original ideas
Weaknesses: Still trying to learn how to use ; those little things. I get awful writer's block
For the proof reading problem I know a lot of people have beta readers, someone who they show the story to before everyone else and they proof it for them. It seems that when someone else reads your work they'll notice mistakes you might miss.

Stengths: Creativity Grammar I guess I'm good with OCs though sometimes I get the feeling that they are Mary-Sueish I'm pretty good with humor
Weaknesses: Writers block Typos.... I make a lot of them and I don't proofread that well Word choice Going back to the OC thing: I sometimes get discouraged because I do think my OCs are Mary-Sueish. Lack of description (which honestly, I think I'm getting a lot better at that)

Well, the more you write the more you improve on your weaknesses. Another method I've found to help strengthen weaknesses is simply to write a lot dealing with that weakness. For example, jupiter, you said descriptions are a weakness. Write a whole chapter that is only descriptions. See?
I'd have to say, for all my creative ability, my lack of good titling is my biggest downfall. I'm sure I could get more attention for my original story if it wasn't title something as dull and unoriginal as "The Fantasy Saga."

Sometimes creating titles are hard, but somtimes it can be fun. I get very creative on my titles like for my original story which is called 'Emnestle'. It's actually Elements scrambled up. I have a lot fun with titles.

Heh, well, back on topic. I find a good way to get rid of writer's block is simply to read a lot.

Yeah. I'm starting to realize that because after I read a book a lot of ideas come to me. Sometimes when I'm playing video games too.

Um...I'd have to say my strengths lie in the humor department. I really like writing that kind of story. I guess I'm pretty good with being creative.
My weaknesses mostly appear when it comes to action/adventure. Although, with Nova's help hopefully I'll improve. I started an action/adventure fic awhile ago, but discontinued it. I had some big rushing problems.

Hey, I read that, it was pretty good. Needed some work, but good nonetheless. Being a good writer takes practice, for any genre.

*nods* I predict in the next year or so. Marshmallow and I will be a lot better than we are now. I've actually seen an improvement in myself looking back on stuff I wrote a year ago, and Marshmallow too. I can't forget blondie either.

I believe both Blondie and Marshmellow have improved a lot since I started reading there stuff about six months ago. I'm helping Marshmellow on her Dark Sages story, and when I read the first chapter I was blown away by how good it was. I'm hoping she continues to plan on posting it soon because I think a lot of people will enjoy it.
As for me, I like to think my writing speaks for itself. The only strengths I can think of is that I tend to be very detailed, both in dialogue and the battle scenes. I tend to be more on the formal and serious side, though I try and balance it out with some of my dry humor. Weaknesses include my lack of motivation and inspiration at times, which lead to a chapter getting out later than I'd like. It's a hard lesson in discipline, but I'm learning.
